018. LIMINALITY
What is this liminal moment we find ourselves in as a society?
Whether you're in a state of change yourself or not, I believe the moment WE are in is a liminal one.
The word liminal comes from the Latin root limen, which means "threshold"; and it describes a state of being in which you're transitioning from one place or stage to the next -- a place between places.
A liminal space is one on the borderlands - where the road that carried you here is disappearing over the horizon and the path in front of you stretches out ahead beyond what you can see.
It’s a place of the unknown. Of dangers. Of wild possibility. A passing of the old and a welcoming of whatever is just-about-to-happen.
Liminal moments are also some of the most important moments of our lives and societies.
How do we experience liminality? How does someone lead and learn in a state of liminality? What are the pathways through liminality? What are the challenges and potentials of liminal states?
